Scarce 1913 1st edition of Hazards, Those Essential Elements in a Golf Course Without Which the Game Would be Tame and Uninteresting by Aleck Bauer. This is a rare and important title for both book and golf architecture collectors. One of the only books in history devoted to golf course hazards. The book is famously illustrated from photographs. Includes 12 golf course maps/layout drawings, including a foldout of St Andrews.
This book is notoriously fragile, which contributes to its extreme rarity. This is a good copy. Red spine has been relaid in the same style as the original. Some minor water damage to lower cover and first few internal pages.
The only other example of this rare book that we've ever offered sold for $3,872 in our April 2014 Auction.
