This is the actual semi-finalist bronze medal awarded to the Honorable W.G. Brownlow (later became Lord Lurgan) from the 1926 British Amateur. The 1926 British Amateur was held at Muirfield, and won by the American Jess Sweetser. Sweetser nearly lost to Brownlow in the semis - despite the fact that the aristocrat Brownlow played in a long clerk's coat and wore black silk gloves for the entire round. Their match went to extra holes, and Sweetser eventually won on the 21st hole. Sweetser then easily defeated Fred Simpson in the finals.
Engraved with Hon. Brownlow's name on the reverse, as well as "Muirfield, 1926." Comes in its original presentation box.
