Simply put, this is one of the coolest golf and political/military letters we've ever encountered. This letter is from General Eisenhower to Augusta National Golf Club, and is addressed to founding ANGC member Jerome Franklin. The letter is on Eisenhower's 5 star General letterhead, and was sent from "Supreme Headquarters, Allied Powers Europe."

In the letter, General Eisenhower says "You make me homesick" to Franklin regarding (we believe) being back at Augusta National. Eisenhower then goes on to discuss what we now call "Ike's Pond" - the finishing pond created at Augusta National at the suggestion of General Eisenhower. Eisenhower remarks "I do hope that the members are getting real fun out of the fish pond."

Though sending this letter from the Supreme Headquarters of the Allied Powers Europe, since he was writing to a dear friend, the General signed off this letter by simply signing "Ike." This letter is dated November 28, 1951. Almost exactly a year later, the General would be elected President of the United States.
