When Scotty Cameron himself learned that this putter was in a private collection, he was surprised the putter was anywhere but in Tiger Wood's garage. It turns out that Tiger Woods gave this putter to his frequent golf partner Randy Peterson, who is currently the Director of Fitting & Instruction for Callaway, before the 1997 golf season began. This putter was simply a prototype; Tiger got a new putter from Scotty Cameron that he would famously use to win the 1997 Masters Tournament by 12 strokes.
Offered here is Tiger Woods' actual personally used 1996 Scotty Cameron Newport Xperimental prototype teryllium putter. Hand stamped "TIGER" in dancing letters on the toe. Stamped "Proto" and "XXX" on reverse bumpers.
In our two most recent auctions, we've auctioned Tiger Woods Scotty Cameron putters for $53,146 and $44,401. But with all do respect to those fine putters, perhaps no privately owned Tiger Woods putter holds a candle to the collecting appeal of this specimen.
Certificate of Authenticity from Scotty Cameron. It should also be noted that there's a hidden message on the Certificate from Scotty - the last 5 digits of the certificate number (84437) spells out "Tiger" on your phone.
