First played in 1892, the Irish Amateur Open was the premiere golf tournament in Ireland. Early Irish Am Champions include John Ball, Jr. (3 times), Harold Hilton (4 times), as well as recent winners like Padraig Harrington, Louis Oosthuizen, and Rory McIlroy.

This stunning celtic cross medal was issued to the runner-up in the inaugural Irish Amateur in 1892 at Portrush - J.H. Andrew, Esq. Portrush would receive its "Royal" designation 3 years later in 1895. The reverse of this medal is intricately and ornately engraved. Comes in its original case from Gibson & Co., Ltd. in Belfast. Fairly large medal that is over 2" x 2".

This piece is being offered today from the famed Ronnie Watts Collection
