mid-1990s, famed golf memorabilia dealer Mort Olman scored what may be his
most famous find – a collection of 29 original 1800s
scorecards and documents from Leith Thistle Golf Club. These are the oldest
original golf scorecards, and some of the oldest golf related documents, that exist. Instead of being tucked away in a
museum or private golf club’s collection like most truly historic
memorabilia, these documents have become cornerstone pieces of the
finest private golf collections in the world.
Offered here is the 1822 Leith Thistle Golf Club handwritten receipt from Robert Hamilton for services rendered for the making of a ledger for the Thistle Golf Club. This receipt is 194 years old, but is in excellent condition.
Receipt is 7 1/2" x 9" Framed to an overall size of 16 1/2" x 15"
